2016 NCAA Champs Qualify for Olympic Trials – At the end of the NCAA Division One Championships, the nine winners all punched their ticket to the Iowa City qualifier. Each of the nine champions will get a spot, if they choose, to wrestling at the Olympic Trials. For many, this opportunity was not even on their radar, as they were solely focused on the task at hand, becoming a NCAA Champion.
The Olympic Team Trials will be held April 9-10, 2016 in Iowa City, IA at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. All the wrestlers will be competing in freestyle and Greco-Roman. The nine NCAA champions will have bid for both styles, if they choose.
Kyle Snyder is the only wrestler who has already qualified for the team trials, before winning his NCAA tile on March 19, 2016 in New York at the Madison Square Garden arena. Snyder is a member of the World Team and was the youngest wrestler in U.S. history to capture a gold medal at the Worlds.
